Seven Lines

I was over visiting Liza Carens Salerno’s blog, Middle Passages, and saw that she got tagged. She didn’t pass on the tag to anyone, but left it open for anyone who wanted to participate to grab it. So I did.

The rules are:
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS/WIP
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines – sentences or paragraphs – and post them as they’re written. No cheating
4. Tag 7 authors
5. Let them know

I thought this sounded like fun, plus it would be interesting to see what I had on that page, that line and the six following lines.

Here are my 7 lines from page 77 of my manuscript, The Plan:
It was time she started learning how to use the Sig. Would a shooting range ask for the gun’s registration? Maybe she wouldn’t have to use the gun. Maybe she would. Ranger would teach her – if she could find him. She’d get the word out that she was looking for him. She re-covered the Sig and slid it to the back of the closet. It was almost time to go home.
Stripped to underclothes, she slithered beneath the covers, careful not to untuck the sheet or wrinkle the spread. The aching was back.
I’m not going to tag anyone, but have a look at your own manuscript or work-in-progress and see what your seven lines are. Then post them.

  1. Oh, I'm glad you did this! Now this is an intriguing snippet. All the lines about the shooting range piqued my interest, but in the end, I just so want to know why your character is aching. Good writing always leaves us wanting more and this is good!

  3. Funny idea.

I used to play a similar game with my father when I was a kid. Choose a page and a number from the encyclopedia (printed on paper in ancient times). Choose a number on the page, and explain/expose that keyword. One point if correct. We could do this for hours >:)

  4. Cold, that reminds me of my childhood. My mother bought us a set of encyclopedias. Loved those books. Wonder if I still have them somewhere in storage?
