Telling Mermaid Tales

Story Circle Network invited me to read something of mine as one of their monthly podcasts. I didn’t think anyone would be terribly interested in a chapter from TechCareers: Automotive Technicians … so I chose three Mermaid Tales that I’ve posted here on Straight From Hel (y’all can thank me later for not choosing the Automotive Technicians book).

So, if you’d like to hear some Mermaid Tales, you can click over to the Story Circle Network podcast site and hear Pigs and Piglets, The Great Flood, and Swimming with the Swans. I believe the podcast will be up all this month.

  1. Oh, I don't know. "TechCareers: Automotive Technicians" has a nice ring to it! :)

I always enjoy your Mermaid Tales, so I'll definitely be popping by there later. Thanks for letting us know!

  2. Cool! Are you involved in the production of the podcast too? I am interested to learn about how to do it.

  5. Accent! Accent? I have an accent? I've lived in Texas most of my life, so that would be a Texas drawl, Laurita.

Enid, I wasn't involved in the production. All I had to do was call and record the reading. I had to call twice though because the first time I used the house phone and it came out scratchy. So I called a second time on my cell phone and it came out better. For some reason, though, it apparently gave me an accent. ;-O

Elizabeth, if I get asked again, I'll do a reading from one of my TechCareers books...just for you. They're great books if you're thinking of going into that particular career, but you'd probably be the only one listening to it.

  8. If enough of you head over to listen, there would probably be a spike in the stats there. SCN would figure it was a glitch.

  9. Good choices, since everybody loves your mermaid tales...or would that be tails?

  10. If you did TechCareers.. in a variety of voices, you might be able to pull of a great reading. I'll check out the podcast.. Thanks.

  13. Laura, I no longer have a tail, so now they're tales.

That's a thought, Lou. I wonder what voice I would use for Automotive Technicians, Avionics and Gaming?

    Good decision, Monti.

Hart, hope you enjoy my voice, or at least can understand the accent.

  14. I did my part to support the "glitch". What fun to listen to you. Have to say I was surprised when I heard your voice. Not what I expected, even though I know you live in Texas. So do I, but I don't have an accent. LOL

It was sort of the reverse of hearing a voice over time and then meeting the person and he or she does not look anything at all like you pictured. After seeing your picture here at the blog for so long, I had a whole different voice in mind for you.

  15. Will definitely head over when I'm finished this deadline. Mermaid Tales will be just the thing to perk me up after work!

Although, I must say ... TechCareers: Automotive Technicians sounds interesting LOL

  18. Maryann, I do not have an accent. Everyone else does, but not me. What did you think I sounded like? I hope you envisioned me as intelligent, but sultry. That's what I was going for, tee hee.

Belle, you're right to laugh. I should have done TechCareers: Avionics. That would have been riveting.

Save the ears of your fellow bloggers: pop over all at once to listen and crash the podcast system.

  19. oh these are heavenly and you are so right Helen - you don't have an accent at all. I don't know what these people are talking about...
I love to hear these and now I've got the context because I googled Ralph the diving pig and voila - all sorts of sites and pics of your days. I AM SO CURIOUS!
    Yay for mermaid tales....
