Updating on Amazon



A friend of mine, Tim Bruce, sent me a link to an article called, HowAmazon did everything wrong (but I still got to #1). 

If you publish via Amazon - or if you're thinking of updating something you already have in the Amazon Kindle bookstore - you might want to read this article. It could save you some time and frustration. On the other hand, just reading it might change your mind about trying to update your book.

    He's right, and despite Amazon, I also made it to #1 and topped all of the "Fifty Shades" books. Had they'd been #45 I would have been satisfied with being #43. lol

    Well...there are bugs to any system. He could go to a bookstore and have them refuse to sell his book. I see things that could have been done differently on both sides. In the end, the post sounded like a sales pitch.

      It could have been, Laura. It didn't entice me to buy the book, though. He did make the process seem awfully arduous, though.

    Yeah, I'm not surprised about any of this. Right now I'm frustrated that they have discounted my book more than 50% for TWO weeks. I'm losing money here ... and nothing I say is going to fix that.

      Amazon has its weak points and its strong points. I like Amazon personally, but I know it's not always easy.

    Long story short, I think his problems are more due to it being a technical book than "porn for housewives." In every platform, there are bound to be cracks to fall through.

    My book made it to #1 in contemporary and general fiction and I keep seeing sales trickling through. It works. It's not perfect, and there are plenty of hoops to jump through, but at least it gets my books out there.
