I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, happy Christmas.
Both of my kids will be home, which will make for a great Christmas. Every year, I make eggnog for Christmas Eve. And every year they groan and won’t drink it, no matter whether I buy it at the store or make it from scratch, whether it’s virgin eggnog or has alcohol in it (they’re both grown). They hate eggnog. So last year I gave up and made hot chocolate instead. Neither of them were happy. They wanted to know where the eggnog was. Turns out, they hate eggnog, but love the tradition of me trying to get them to drink it. So, we’ll be having eggnog tonight. It’s officially a Ginger Tradition.
What Christmas tradition does your family have?

Ha! Wonderful traditions evolve from children. Mine are all scattered this year so I'll spend my time teaching the dogs to yodel Christmas carols. I'll let you know how it goes. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe have our son and nephew here! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! Hope someone drinks the eggnog though.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Helen!
Love it! Sounds like my mom's christmas cake tradition too! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas Helen!
They won't even try it?
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Helen, to you and your family. My husband will have some of your eggnog. I'd prefer the hot chocolate. Gotta love tradition.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too. Children, no matter their age, hate it when you mess with tradition.

Now I'm going to run to the store to buy some eggnog!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday, Helen!
Oh good for you! Enjoy your egg nog (I love it...but haven't had any this year...need to rectify that fast!) Hope you have a lovely celebration with your family.
ReplyDeleteBring on the eggnog.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays, Helen.
I'm with you all. I like eggnog. I also have hot chocolate as a backup, though.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a funny story Hel. I loved it. Merry Christmas

Just the two of us this year. Starting a new tradition: Instead of turkey, we'll have steak, baked potatoes, collard greens, and ambrosia for lunch. (Correction: I'll have collards.) I'm trying to hold off on the eggnog until New Year's, but after reading your post, I might not make it that far.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays to all.
Merry Christmas Helen! Enjoy that eggnog!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I love those traditions. One of our traditions was to have lasagna for Christmas Eve dinner and no big dinner on Christmas day so Mom could play, too. Loved that as the kids were growing up. This year with kids scattered a bit, we gathered on the 23rd with the kids and grandkids and had our lasagna then.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good Christmas, and wishing you all the best for the New Year.
Mothers seam to enjoy having kids home for Christmas (mine does as well). We just came home from Christmas celebration with our family. Tomorrow we go skiing. Hope you're having happy holidays in Texas, even though you don't have snow >:)
ReplyDeleteCold As Heaven
In my family the tradition is cookies. This year I made 7 different kinds!
