Merry Christmas

I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, happy Christmas.

Both of my kids will be home, which will make for a great Christmas. Every year, I make eggnog for Christmas Eve. And every year they groan and won’t drink it, no matter whether I buy it at the store or make it from scratch, whether it’s virgin eggnog or has alcohol in it (they’re both grown). They hate eggnog. So last year I gave up and made hot chocolate instead. Neither of them were happy. They wanted to know where the eggnog was. Turns out, they hate eggnog, but love the tradition of me trying to get them to drink it. So, we’ll be having eggnog tonight. It’s officially a Ginger Tradition.

What Christmas tradition does your family have?

  1. Ha! Wonderful traditions evolve from children. Mine are all scattered this year so I'll spend my time teaching the dogs to yodel Christmas carols. I'll let you know how it goes. ;)

  6. Merry Christmas to you too. Children, no matter their age, hate it when you mess with tradition.

  12. Just the two of us this year. Starting a new tradition: Instead of turkey, we'll have steak, baked potatoes, collard greens, and ambrosia for lunch. (Correction: I'll have collards.) I'm trying to hold off on the eggnog until New Year's, but after reading your post, I might not make it that far.

    Happy holidays to all.

  14. LOL, I love those traditions. One of our traditions was to have lasagna for Christmas Eve dinner and no big dinner on Christmas day so Mom could play, too. Loved that as the kids were growing up. This year with kids scattered a bit, we gathered on the 23rd with the kids and grandkids and had our lasagna then.

Hope you had a good Christmas, and wishing you all the best for the New Year.
