I am a Freelance Editor

The title of today’s post sounds like I’m introducing myself at an AA meeting, doesn’t it?

Most of you probably already know I’m a freelance editor. And today I’ve donned my editor hat and headed over to literary publicist Stephanie Barko’s blog. I’m answering a couple of questions about editing and coaching. You’re all welcome to drop by and read my answers.

As an enticement for you to leave a comment or a question over at Stephanie’s blog, there’s a prize. One name will be drawn out of that ubiquitous hat for a free edit of the first 50 pages of your manuscript.

See you over there.

  1. Great post, Helen. So many people hang their virtual shingle out with 'editor' on it, yet don't understand what the process entails.

  4. Karen, right now you can find me typing on my iPhone's teeny keyboard. Didn't think i'd get cell service in the Capitol but I can. Now I'm off to Stephanie's blog.

  5. Thanks, everybody, for going over and commenting. I so appreciate it, especially today when I'm without a computer. Mine black-screened yesterday. So today I'm working on the iPad, my iPhone and borrowed computers.

  6. Enjoyed your post over there, Helen. But I must say the orange type on the white background was a bit hard to read. I wonder why people think that doing something unusual like that is a good decision. Makes me think of when editors used to say that they had received manuscripts typed on pink paper and how that cast the writer in a negative light. What is wrong with black type on a white background that is easy for everyone to read?
