Fall Books

Wondering what new books will be out this Fall? Wonder no more. ABC News / Entertainment has the answer.

"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Presents Earth (The Book): A Visitor's Guide to the Human Race."

If that doesn’t float your boat, there will be at least 10 books on President Obama.

George W. Bush has a book coming out, as does Condoleezza Rice.

There will be a book about correspondence between Harry Truman and Dean Acheson. And that’s not the only “presidential” book. There’s one on Washington, one on John Adams, one about Lincoln, one on Dwight Eisenhower, one on J.F.K., and a reissuing of a book on Rondald Reagan. Hey, Jimmy Carter gets three books!

Fiction’s not being left out either. You can expect books by Grisham, King, Cornwell, Connelly, Evanovich, Follett, McMillan and others.

And let’s not leave out the celebrities: Steve Martin, Barbara Streisand, Neil Yong, Keith Richards, Stephen Sondheim, Jay Z, Ricky Martin, Marlo Thomas and perhaps the most anticipated, the Kardashian sisters.

If you read the full article, you’d think no one except “names” have books coming out. Hey, let’s prove ABC wrong. Leave the name of a book you have coming out this year or next. Or one that you know of, even if it’s not yours.

  1. Let's see. For Philip Roth fans, his 31st book, NEMESIS, is coming out in October. It's about a polio epidemic and how it affects a New Jersey community in the summer of 1944.

  2. I have no idea, never get to know before I see the reviews in the newspaper or the books in store. But I hope the new Thorns album will be released in 2011. It has been announced since 2008, but still the vocal tracks are not recorded. It would eventually be their first album release since 2001.

  3. The Kardashian sisters? Groan... Wonder if the cover will only feature their b--never mind.

It seems like lots of bloggy friends of mine have novels coming out this year. Mine just came out as well, Prophecy Moon.

  6. Wow, that is a lot of names. Big names.

I just ordered a copy of Erin Cole's book Grave Echoes. I'm really looking forward to reading that.

  7. I do like Jon Stewart but I have so many books to read right now, I'm swamped!

    Thanks for the heads up.

  10. Elizabeth, I love the title of your next book!

Laura, I've finished reading Prophecy Moon, but am not saying anything except that I'll review it next Friday.

I'm hearing about some new-to-me books today.

  11. I can't say I'm enamoured with the long list of celebrity books coming out. But then I'm not a fan of the celebrity cults so prevalent in today's world, so clearly I wouldn't be part of that target market.

And TEN books on President Obama? I'm a fan, but, really...10?

  12. Judy, apparently there's a lot of folks who love him and a lot who hate him, but all are out to make money off him.

  13. That's a lot of books I'll never read.
For fans of science fiction/space opera-adventure, my first book comes out October 19 - CassaStar!

  14. Alex, I'll look for your book. Sounds like what I like. I never read politician or celebrity books. Aren't they getting rich enough off of us already? And they don't really write them by themselves anyway.
I started Brandon Sanderson's new book, The Way of Kings, last night and at 1000 pages it will take me all weekend. Then I'm going to read Brent Weeks new fantasy novel all while working on my own next book.

  15. I plan to read zero celebrity books.

My fantasy will be released before Christmas I hope: The Treasures of Carmelidrium. It is character driven and even non fantasy folk should like it.

I have a short story series that will have at least two books available. Working title is simply, Phoenix.

Both are series and both will be e-books. I hope to have paper soon afterwords.

  16. Other than the new Grisham novel, I probably won't be reading any of the books you've listed. Books written by celebrities or about celebreties don't grab my interest at all.

  17. Seems like most of us do not buy celebrity books. Plenty of other people do, though. They wouldn't get big money deals otherwise.

  18. And then there's that fab book, A War Of Her Own, put out by Crickhollow Books! LOL

  19. My friend and blog buddy, Laurie Hertzel, has a memoir that just came out. It's called "News to Me: Adventures of an Accidental Journalist". I've read it, and it's fabulous. PW did a review along with lots of newspapers and blogs. I bet you'd enjoy it.

  20. Sylvia, your book is definitely a fab book!

Kim, I love the title of Hertzel's book. Thanks for recommending it.
