Self-Publishers Online Conference

Last year was the premiere of the Self-Publishers Online Conference (SPOC). I didn’t attend it, but it sounds like a conference that if you self-publish or are thinking about self-publishing, you might want to check it out.

The dates for this year are May 12 - 14.

 According to the press release:
There is no charge for a Basic Attendance pass. Attendees can wander the virtual exhibit hall, take part in online conversations, attend informative teleseminars, participate in Q&A roundtable discussions, and discover helpful information about writing and publishing quality books.
The difference between the free admittance and paid is this:
A free Basic attendance pass gives participants live call-in access to the teleseminars and a log in for the exhibit hall and seminar handouts. Paid Standard and Premium passes offer access to the seminar recordings and a wide range of bonus materials.
There is a list of 15 experts who will be offering info and advice, from John Kremer to M.J. Rose to Kate Bandos and Dan Poynter.

You can find out more at the Self Publishers Online Conference website.

I’m wondering if anyone knows about this conference, attended it last year, or plans to sign up for this year’s event.

  1. Nice new title pic, Helen. Where is it taken? Almost like a painting by Monet.

  2. Helen,

I didn't attend last year, but I'm impressed with the lineup of speakers. I've signed up myself (for the basic attendance but I'm considering the next level because I doubt that I can be available for all the seminars that interest me). I've also passed the information on to my clients who are self-publishing.

  3. Lillie, I know what you mean, Lillie. I did my first online conf in 2009 and I missed out on so much, I don't know that I'd do it again. I hope you do a write up on it.

ColdAsHeaven - a friend of a friend sent out a bunch of pictures they'd taken on their land here in central TX. All of them were so pretty I asked for permission to put some up on my website/blog. Haven't done my website yet and prob won't get to it until next week. I'm hoping I'll have better control of the surrounding colors. I'm not wild about the lime green, but blogger doesn't give you a full palette.

  8. Thank you all for commenting on the new pic. Sometimes you wonder what will happen when you make changes.

Mason, I'd never heard of the conference either. It sounds interesting, though.

  12. Well, I'm obviously of no help because this is the first I've even heard of an online conference. Interesting.

I will chime in and say that I like the new look.

  13. There are several online conferences. Some are free, a few charge minimal fees.

  14. The blue flowers on your header look like a river- lovely! I've been working on my next two columns for our local newspaper which are about self-publishing, so this is timely. Thanks!

  21. Helen:

Thanks for blogging about the Self-Publishers Online Conference (SPOC). The conference web site pretty much says it all, but if you or any of your readers have any special questions about it, feel free to use the contact form on the SPOC web site to get in touch with us (my wife Susan and I run the conference). We'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We had a blast last year, and are excited about the lineup of speakers we got for this year. We've added open Q&A sessions a "wall" (e.g. forum) for each seminar this year as well.

Hope to "see" you there, and as we say: Live long and publish!
