Naughty or Nice?

It’s Christmas! No, you didn’t fall asleep and just wake up from a two and a half month coma. It’s Christmas because Neiman Marcus says so. They said so by releasing their Neiman Marcus’ annual Christmas Book.

Scrooge the economy! Take a look at the NM Christmas Book. You can get pjs for your toddler for only $90. How about a Makers Mark Master Distiller Experience for a mere $7,500. Or, to keep this focused on books, you might want the Dior 60th anniversary book for $250. Or here’s an idea perfect for you: His & Hers Icon Sports Aircraft for $250,000. Don’t have $250,000? Then you’ll want to click on this link and see the picture of the Customized Cupcake Car for only $25,000.

Speaking of clicking, the Christmas book is available … in digital form. Go green with your Master Distiller in your Cupcake Car on your way to Italy in your Icon Sports Aircraft, where you can relax and review the catalog on your digital reader.

  3. What would we do without Neiman Marcus at Christmas? I always smile and shake my head.

  4. I have never seen one of these, is this what Terry Brooks is sending up in the first Magic Kindom for sale book?

  8. Somewhere there's still people with boocoodles of spending money, but I don't see Gates or Winfrey tooling around in a cupcake wearing a silly hat.

  9. Oh my gosh! I'm still laughing over this one. I may just have to see if I can take a peak at this book. Cupcake Cars...REALLY?!?!

Happy Friday and thanks for the laugh,

  10. Good Grief! All the more reason I'm making it a "homemade Christmas" this year...

  11. I sometimes wonder if they make enough money on this issue to even break even on the printing and photography (etc.) costs.

  13. Harharhar... There's something both hilarious and deeply sad about this. It's a "stuff for the sake of stuff" mentality. Kind of like Skymall, I guess. :)

  17. What fun to go through the NM Christmas book. I remember when it used to be mailed to almost all the residents in the Dallas area. Not so much anymore. :-)

  18. Decisions, decisions, decisions. I guess I'll have to get the catalogue, close my eyes and point.

    Geesh.

  19. Hey, a 2.5 month coma wouldn't be too bad, I think. Just wait til winter rolls in here in MN - if I fall asleep right after New Years and wake up in March, I'd miss the worst of the winter.

    I love those cupcake cars!

  24. $90 for Toddler PJs... yikes!
    Thinking Christmas already - crazy.

  25. Tamika, did you know NM has a store called, I think, Neiman Marcus Last Call? I went to one once in Dallas. It's their sale store. You could get those $90 toddler PJs for a slashed price of $60 I bet.

  26. Christmas seems like it starts earlier and earlier every year!

  27. So the cupcake car goes 7mph?

That will certainly get me away...fast... from the people who will be throwing laughs at me!

Thanks for the laughs. And I hope that you are on the mend?

  28. Ah, Marisa, you had me laughing. I love the visual of people chunking stuff at the slow wheeling cupcake car.

I am doing better. Not 100% though. I have to go to a funeral tomorrow. I can't wear heels or closed toed shoes, so I'll look a bit silly, but... that's life. (I'm not going to wear the blue bootie either.)

  29. We have a ice cream truck in the neighborhood that plays Christmas Carols in July and drives all the adults insane.

  30. Wow, I can hardly afford food and the basic necessities and people can afford a cupcake car. Go figure.

And for those of you that say "You can afford internet" well I'm on disability and I can barely leave my house. I get a huge discount and what the heck else should I spend my money on? I don't have to buy shoes cuz I cannot walk. I don't buy starbucks 3 or 4 days a week so if I spend $22 a month to be able to connect to the outside world it shouldn't be a crime.

And to say I'm extremely poor but have internet shouldn't be a crime either!!!!
Believe me, I've gotten crap for saying I was poor-- the people reminded me I had a computer and internet.
Well those things don't fill my cupboards on the 28th and 29th days of the month when I'm running really low on groceries.

I hope the people who can afford Nieman Marcus stuff really know how many of us there are around the country who are living on hot dogs and macaroni at the moment who wish things were a little different.
