Some Kreativ Friends

Last Wednesday, Maryann Miller of It’s Not All Gravy, awarded me the Kreativ Blogger Award. Maryann has a great blog, with pictures, reading and writing topics, book reviews and more. If you don’t know her blog, give her a visit.

Here are the rules for the Kreative Blogger Award:
1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
5. Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they have been nominated.

I’ve done 1-3, and will come back to 4. I’m going to skip #5, since I recently passed this award on. But I will link you to the 7 fabulous bloggers that I gave the award to at that time:
Laura Eno with A Shift in Dimensions

Lori Tiron-Pandit at Daily Writing

Bermudaonion at Bermudaonion’s Weblog

Dana Fredsti of Zhadi’s Den

Sheila Deeth of Sheila Deeth

N.A. Sharpe of Realms of Thought

Marvin Wilson of The Old Silly’s Free Spirit Blog

That leaves only #4: Seven things about me you might find interesting.

Okay. I scoured my brain and I seriously doubt there are 7 interesting things about me. I’m pretty much like everyone else. Interesting things…interesting things…let’s see…

1. I used to have straight hair. It began to curl when I started having kids. It’s now curly, curly.

2. I have big feet. Seriously. Big feet.

3. I have always been considered tall. I’m now the shortest person in my family. But I have not shrunk.

4. I like to travel. I don’t mind driving. I like to fly. I’ll go by bus. I’d like to take a cruise. I’d like to go on a cross-country train trip. I like to travel.

5. When I was quite young, my mother sent me to accordion lesson (notice the singular noun, lesson, as in one).

6. I have lived in Texas so long, I consider myself a native, but I’m not. I was born in Georgia.

7. I’m teaching myself to say “no.” Especially to solicitors who call on the phone and ask for money for their causes or want to sell something or call from an 866# and ask if my husband is home. I just say, “no.” One word. Nothing more.

Now, it’s your turn. Tell me one interesting thing about you and be sure to leave the link to your blog or website. Again, thank you Maryann for honoring me with this award.

  1. I had ghosts living in my childhood home in the North End of Boston, a port city where ghosts usually gather.

  3. I was born in GA too! Columbus (Daddy was in the Army at the time...Vietnam.)

Let's see, that's not very interesting, though. I can't think of anything! Boring me...

  4. Congratulations on your award! My hair used to be straight, too - it started waving (it's not really curly) because of menopause. Thanks so much for thinking of me! I really do appreciate it!

  5. Well I will refrain from calling you "Bigfoot" and I already knew about the "kids curl your hair" phenomenon from direct experience - lol. Enoyed the 7 things about Helen, and thanks so much for thinking of me with this award thingy!

  6. Ghosts! Wow, Lisa. I've never seen a ghost. That must be eerie.

Wasn't born in Columbus, Elizabeth, but my dad worked for the Army, too. In Ft. McPherson. (I think that's how you spell it.)

Bermudaonion, I don't think I have to worry about menopause, 'cause my hair could not get any curlier. But I am glad to see someone had this happen to them. My hairdresser once said it was impossible.

Marvin, you are a true gentleman.

  7. I always wished my hair would just magically start to curl one day... not to be...even after two kids :(

    Congrats on the award.

  8. Congratulation for the award which couldn't be more deserved. And thank you so much for passing it forward to me too. Very honored.

  9. Congratulations on the well deserved award, Helen. I'm also tall (and the shortest in my family) with big feet and curly hair. Thanks for listing the rules. I didn't know I had also won until I clicked on Shiela's link.

  10. Congrats, Helen! All seven of those items were interesting. The only thing I can come up with this morning is that I once took belly-dancing lessons (many years ago).

  11. Now, that is interesting, Jane. That was probably fun.

I'm glad I mentioned the hair thing. I had no idea other people have had their hair change like that!

  12. I love reading these lists. #7 is one I learned as I got older. That's if I bother to answer the phone at all...

  13. I'm learning to like saying no to solicitors. They hesitate, waiting for you to say something else to give them an opening, but when I don't, they give up.

  14. Congrats on receiving the award, Helen! You deserve it multiple times. Thanks for mentioning my site again as well.

Interesting thing about me - My son-in-law thinks that Darth Vader must answer to me. (But he says he likes me!)

  15. Another well-deserved award, congratulations!

Interesting thing about me? Hmmmm. I have perfect pitch. Also, very small feet. My 12 year old's feet are larger than mine.

  16. Laura, it's always good to keep sons-in-laws in line, I think.

Perfect pitch AND small feet? No fair. I was stuck behind the door when those were given out.

  17. Thank you again Helen.

    And #2. Seriously? Me too!

  18. You are so deserving of this award, Helen. My pleasure to pass it on.

An interesting thing about me.... I once saw a man's spirit leave his body when he died. I was working in a hospital at the time as a chaplain.

  19. Sheila, unfortunately, mine just keep getting bigger.

Maryann, that had to be amazing. It would scare the heck outta me. As a chaplain, it probably reaffirmed your belief and calling - I assume.

  20. Oooh, fun post, fun finding out about you, Helen. Interesting bit about me? When I was four I met Papa Hemingway and believed he was Santa Claus!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Seriously, Conda? Wouldn't it have been fun to have met him when you were older and could have sat and listened to him or talked with him?

  22. Regarding number one, I used to have straight hair. It began to curl when I started having kids. It’s now curly, curly, at least you're not like some people who go gray and bald right away. I've seen people and its like a metamorphasis. One day they have long, flowing hair, a few short years later, bald as an eagle.

  23. Hmm, Stephen, long flowing hair that goes short a few years later. You sure it was kids? Could this have been during the '70s?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, Helen, I sure wished that had happened--but it was right before his death, sigh.

  25. Congrats, Helen, on your well deserved awards.

Interesting fact about me: I qualify for membership in both the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy. (Although I've never joined either.)
