Okay, don’t look at me. I admit I’m not stylish, but my blog is! Jean Henry Mead said so when she gave me the Stylish Blogger Award. So stop your snickering.
The rules seem pretty simple: List 7 things about yourself and pass the award on to 7 others. Like there’s something y’all don’t know about me already. But here goes:
1. In high school I worked at the local Dairy Treat (not Dairy Queen - the town was too small for one of those).
2. I also worked at the local bank.
3. Since we’re talking high school, as a senior I was President of the VOE (Vocational Office Education).
4. At graduation, I was one of the speakers.
5. On to college…where I studied constantly.
6. During the one class my (now) husband and I took together, he drove me nuts. While I worked all semester on the end of term project; he waited until the week before it was due to start. And, yes, he passed.
7. I joined a sorority at the start of my junior year, so only two active years. And, yet, I served as the Advisor during the year I worked on my Masters.
That’s it. Seven (boring) things about me.
I’m passing this on to:
Writing Ramblins & Sundry
traverselife
Calling Shotgun
LM Preston
Positive Letters
Thoughts in Progress
Giggles and Guns
I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these lovely people have already received this award, so if any of you would like this award, grab it. So far, I’ve yet to visit a non-Stylish blog.

Well done on your (well-deserved)stylish award! From those seven things we learned that, clearly, teaching and advising others is a life-long vocation for you, which is why we always learn so much from your blog! :)

Congrats on your award! Thanks for giving me some new blogs to check out. You've done so many different jobs...I think it's been good experience for your writing!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your style. I know I like it.
ReplyDeleteHe drove you nuts and you still married him - now that's love.
ReplyDeleteJudy, you're a sweetheart. You take my boring life and make it sound interesting!
ReplyDeleteThank you both Elizabeth and Hutch. I hadn't really thought of it as having a lot of jobs, but I guess I have done quite a few different things.
You are stylish, Helen! Dairy Treat. Is that like Burger Prince? Almost but not quite?
ReplyDeleteHaha! Burger Prince...funny, Alex.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award, Helen! You are always stylish in my book.
You did juggle a lot back then Helen, a set up for all you do now? Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely a stylish gal with a stylish blog that I like to visit whenever I can! Thanks for all you say.

Oh those first high school jobs, they seem like such a different time. Thinking of them is like watching a movie, it feels unreal. My first high school job was as a part-time cashier in a local department store.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Helen! You are, indeed, "stylish."
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your list. There's a Dairy Treat in a neighboring Amish town near me and they have one, and years ago, somebody spray-painted it to change the name to "Dairy Sweat." The owners have never changed it back, probably because they knew that everyone talked about it and laughed about it and it became a landmark--just showed good marketing acumen.
You rock... as always!
Woohoo, congratulations on your award! And thank you again for picking me as one of your 7 Stylish Bloggers. It's made my week. :)
ReplyDelete#6 made me grin. I've also known people who have the ability to wing exams and courses. How do they DO that? So unfair!
The award is well deserved, Helen. I can't think of anyone online who has more class.
ReplyDeleteI think we might have been the Burger Cousin, Alex.
ReplyDeleteLiza, hard to juggle underwater.
Joanne, I'm surprised they trusted me with money. Math is not my thing.
Karen, you're clearly not seeing me today. I can't even smile since half my mouth is numb. Just got back from the dentist.
Les, I love the Dairy Sweat. And that the owner kept it. I didn't know it was a chain!
I wish I had that ability, Jennifer.
Jean, there needs to be a Sweetheart Award for you!
Congratulations on the well-deserved award! :)
ReplyDeleteYou facts were not boring. You accomplished a lot in your teen/college years.
ReplyDelete....dhole
Hi Helen .. so great to receive the award .. even if doubled up - just always so grateful to be recognised!
ReplyDeleteLove the 7 things you shared .. men - how do they do it?! Happy selection though ...??!!
Cheers - see you shortly .. Hilary
Hi Helen,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award! You deserve it.
Congrats on the award :)
ReplyDeleteWe had a Dairy Something or other in a nearby town too - wonder if it was a chain as well :)
And then I totally slacked off, Donna.
ReplyDeleteHey, Hilary. Since I married the guy, I'll say it's because he's so freaking cute.
Bob, did you know that every time I click your name, I get taken to a page that says, Profile Not Available?
This has been a learning experience, Jemi. I truly thought the Dairy Treat was a local thing.
congrats on your award..and I giggled a little at your husband passing.
ReplyDeleteEven I have to admit, Lynda, that it is pretty funny. Now. Not then.
ReplyDeleteI'm running late but Congratulations on your award. It is so well deserved. I'm honored that you considered me when passing it on, thanks so much.

Helen thankyou for passing the award on to me, though I'm not sure I live up you your wonderfully interesting posts! Hmm, now to think of how to respond ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Sue and Mason. Both of you have lovely blogs that I love to visit.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award and to the recipients. Some are new to me, so I'll be visiting.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday.
You're one of those people who can "appear" normal (you say, 'boring'), just going along inconspicuously, 'looking' run-of-the-mill, and then ALWAYS rising to the top with achievement after achievement.
ReplyDeleteNot boring - solid and unswerving.
Hubby drove you nuts, hmm? LOL ...
Still does, Marvin.
ReplyDeleteHa! Well, you asked for it! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI would agree with you on that, Marvin.
ReplyDeleteYou deserve all your awards Helen. Congratulations. Good thing you can't see the legs on my blog - it wears black socks with shorts and white tennies. :o
ReplyDelete~jon
Jon, sounds like your blog is a trend setter!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, and of course you're stylist. Heading over to visit your stylish friends.
ReplyDeleteAlways stylish. And I don't think those things were boring at all. Thanks for passing this along.
